A urinary tract infection (UTI) affects the urinary tract, including the bladder, urethra, and kidneys. It can be treated with antibiotics, but they are not always necessary.
Symptoms of a urinary tract infection (UTI) are:
Pain or burning when urinating
Urinating more often than usual at night
Cloudy urine, or dark, or has a strong odor
Sudden urge for peeing or more quickly than usual
blood in urine
pain in the lower abdomen
high temperature or sensation of heat and chills
Treatment
Urinalysis may be done, and treatment could be:
self-care advice and recommend taking pain relievers
short course of antibiotics
Antibiotics will be prescribed, but it is recommended to wait 48 hours before taking them as symptoms may subside on their own.
It’s important to take all prescribed medicines, even if you feel better.
